Dancing delight for ballet fan Nona, aged 96 Abbotswood Court keeps resident's love for ballet alive

A 96 year-old’s love of ballet has been kept alive by a special initiative arranged by the team at Abbotswood Court care home.

Young ballet dancers from Test Valley School of Dance performed for Abbotswood Court resident Nona Girling.

The visit to our Romsey care home was part the ‘Sprinkle of Cinnamon’ personalised initiative.

As part of the initiative, our teams identify something they can organise to make a resident’s week. The activity team at Abbotswood Court noticed that Nona had kept up with her lifelong morning routine of graceful ballet stretches.

Her love of ballet started at Sunday school when she was just six years old. The staff secretly organised a visit from the Test Valley School of Dance, much to Nona’s delight.
